Common questions

Should a small business still buy a server?

Sometimes, yes. If your key software runs best locally, your internet link is a bottleneck, or five-year cloud subscription costs outrun hardware, an on-premise or hybrid build is often the better answer. We assess your workloads and give you the numbers either way.

What's the difference between a NAS and a server?

A NAS is purpose-built network storage: excellent for shared files, snapshots and backup targets, at a lower cost. A server runs applications and services as well. Many of our builds pair a modest server with a NAS so each does what it's best at.

Do you handle the migration from our old server?

Yes. We plan and run the migration: files, applications, identity and printing, usually with the cutover outside business hours so the team barely notices the change.

What about backups?

Every build includes a backup design with local copies for fast restores and encrypted off-site copies for disasters, and we test restores rather than assume them. Backup is part of the architecture, not an optional extra.

Can you support the server after it's installed?

That's the point of buying it through us. Monitoring, patching, warranty management and capacity planning are all part of GBS managed IT, and because we built it, there's no finger-pointing when something needs attention.
