Common questions

What actually needs a UPS?

Anything whose sudden death costs you: servers and NAS units (data corruption), network switches and routers (everything drops), phone systems, and EFTPOS or point-of-critical equipment. General workstations usually just need surge protection.

How long will a UPS run things?

Depends on the load and the batteries: a typical unit carries a server and network core for five to fifteen minutes, enough to ride through blips and shut down cleanly. Add battery banks and the same gear can run for an hour or more. We size runtime to what your business needs.

What's the difference between line-interactive and double-conversion?

Line-interactive units correct voltage and switch to battery in milliseconds when power fails: right for most offices. Double-conversion units rebuild the power continuously, so connected equipment never sees the raw mains at all: right for servers and rough rural supplies.

Do UPS batteries need replacing?

Yes, typically every three to five years, and they fade quietly: the UPS looks fine until the outage when it lasts eight seconds. We monitor battery health and schedule replacements as part of support.

Can a UPS keep our internet and phones up during an outage?
