Cyber Security Checklist for Small Business

1.Secure Your Accounts

  • Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on all     important accounts.
  • Use a password manager to create and store strong,     unique passwords.
  • Avoid shared accounts, or make sure they're tightly     secured.
  • Limit access so staff can only see what they need     for their role.

2.Protect Devices and Information

  • Turn on automatic updates for your systems and     software.
  • Set up regular data backups and test recovery.
  • Install security software with regular scans.
  • Factory reset any business devices before selling or     disposing.
  • Configure devices to auto-lock when not in use.
  • Understand the types of data your business holds and     your obligations.

3.Prepare Your People

  • Provide cyber awareness training for staff.
  • Create an incident response plan.
  • Register with the ACSC Partnership Program for     alerts and resources.
